BillyBob  > Travel > Washington, D.C. (February - December 2009) > Tidal Basin and Potomac Park (March 27, 2009)
I got a head start on the National Cherry Blossom Festival a few days before it opened. The weather was overcast and hazy, which made for very dull looking pictures. However, the sights I was able to see and places I visited were still very beautiful and worthwhile. I started at George Washington University, and headed south around the Tidal Basin, and circled East Potomac Park. Potomac Park has unparalleled views of the Potomac as well as Virgina, Maryland, and Southeastern Washington.

BillyBob > As I passed the intersection of 23rd Street and Virginia Ave, NW, I passed by part of the George Washington University campus.
BillyBob > If you zoom into the photo, you'll see a security guard at the stoplight, looking in my direction. It was not the first time I've attracted the attention of security, and it won't be my last.
BillyBob > Is the security guard still looking at me? You bet.
BillyBob > I turned right and traveled south on 23rd Street, NW. When it crossed over the E Street, I took this photograph of the Kennedy Center.
BillyBob > This building is the headquarters of the Pan-American Health Organization, located at the corner of 23rd and E Streets, NW.
BillyBob > As I continued traveling south on 23rd Street, I passed by buildings belonging to the Naval Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. Some of the old buildings on the Naval grounds looked very interesting to me, so I took a few pictures.
BillyBob > Another shot of buildings belonging to the Naval Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.

After I took this picture, a security guard came by and told me that I'm not allowed to take photos of these buildings. Even though I was on a public street, I was taking pictures of a "military facility". I decided not to argue the point and moved on down the street.
BillyBob > Heading south toward the Lincoln Memorial, I see one of the newer sightseeing buses. On a wonderful day like today, it is a great way to see the city "topless".
BillyBob > A little further down, I see a nice Porsche Boxster (probably a 2008 model). I think this is a much better way to see the city "topless".

I would love to own a Boxster someday. Maybe if I win the lottery?
